Pastor's Desk - More Like Christ
What a joy and a privilege to be able to say that we are becoming more like Christ! Jesus came to give us life and everything that we need for life and godliness is contained in His presence, in His Word and is made available through the Holy Spirit. The challenge for each of us is to grow each day, more like Christ. We can only do this by spending time in His presence and in His Word. Growing is not always an easy experience. A baby going through the teething stage experiences great amounts of pain in order for its teeth to be cut. If it didn't experience the pain and the teeth did not come through, the baby would not continue to develop and mature in order to be able to eat solid foods that will continue to nourish its body.
The same is true for us in our daily walk. Growing will cause pain, however, it will also mean that as we persevere, we will become able to mature and develop, being able to eat solid foods so to speak, so as to become more like Christ.
We all need to continue to grow and develop. Sometimes it's more painful than others. Either way, embrace the pain and thank God for the development and maturity that He is growing in you.
Becoming more like Christ is our ultimate goal and the most incredible things we can do to honour Christ. We are called to emulate Him and love.
